It is a small and compact plant and the unit is extremely flexible in operation and can be set up to process waste water in a single pass or loop depending on the effluent characteristics and required air/solids ratios. Flocculants and coagulants can be automatically injected into the incoming effluent stream if required depending on application.

The DAF is particularly suited to treating:

  • Synthetic coatings, water based glues
  • Paints, inks and dyes
  • Metals, nickel and chromium baths
  • Blood, fats and oils
  • Suspended solids removal

The resulting treated water may be reused for purposes such as washing equipment, containers, plant or working areas. Alternatively it may be disposed of the sewer, The small quantities of solid dried sludge can be safely stored and disposed of via a licensed waste disposal contractor.

DAF process characteristics

A centrifugal pump draws the effluent into the DAF cell through the patented white-water generator. If required, flocculants are added prior to induction to the cell. The unique tank design encourages a dense cloud of micro bubbles to form. These bubbles oxidise metals and take them and suspended solids to the surface to be removed by the scraper. The sludge falls into a filter bag and drained filtrate is drawn back for re-treatment. The cleaned liquor passes over a weir and is then pumped to a storage tank for disposal or reuse. The whole system is automatic with level and pump controls.
